SimpleMapViewer
This is what the name implies: a simple map viewer. It allows you to view the map files (the .bmp files) in the map folder in a unified UI. This makes it simpler to browse your maps.
It also displays some information when you hover over a pixel (terrain, topology, rivers, and province id).
It allows you to quickly locate a province, either by the list on the left or using the search button on the top right.
Requires: .Net Framework 2.0 (EU3 should install that for you)
Installation: extract the rar file, run the exe. Choose the eu3 path (first time only) and you're set.
More info in this thread.
For people interested in working with graphics files, another member posted a link in the GD forum to the nVidea Texture tools page. This includes:
- DDS Utilities - 4 separate utilities:
- nvDXT - command-line binary version of the nvDXT library
- detach - extracts MIP levels from a .DDS file
- stitch - recombines MIP levels into a single .DDS file
- readDXT - reads compressed images and writes .TGA files
- 3ds max .dds Plug-ins - Allows 3ds max to read .dds files. The installer includes versions for 3ds max 3, 4, and 5, as well as source code for the latest version.
- Adobe PhotoShop Normal Map and DDS Authoring Plug-ins - This installer contains two plug-ins. The first creates normal maps from height maps for per pixel rendering. The other is a DXTC texture compression plugin for Adobe Photoshop that allows you to open and save .dds files in RGB format. It reads and writes .dds files compressed or uncompressed.
- DDS Thumbnail Viewer - llows you to view .dds files in Thumbnail view in the Windows Explorer. Now with an installer.
- Texture Atlas Tools - A collection of tools for creating texture atlases, which can help to increase batch sizes. Comes with an installer, Atlas Creation Utility User Guide, Atlas Viewer User Guide, and a whitepaper about texture atlases in general.
- Windows Texture Viewer - WTV was developed for simple DDS viewing, especially for those DDS files with an alpha channel.
- Documentation - Useful documentation.
All of these can be downloaded via the links on the nVidia Developer Texture Tools webpage
GIMP DDS plug-in
A plug-in for users of GIMP 2.x, allowing you to load and save images in DDS format.
I got this from a link supplied by jpezli in another thread - thanks! - and thought it might be useful for others to know about.
Materialiser
Takes printscreen output and saves it to a file. 'nuff said.
More info in it's own thread.
JoneSoft Generic Mod Enabler
Official Website
(top right)
A handy little mod enabler which works with just about anything. You can enable more than one mod at the same time and it creates back-ups and whatnot. I know 1.1 has a offiical P-Dox mod swapper type utility but I find the Generic Mod Enabler to do the job quite a bit better. I use it for almost any game with which I install mods with, including most the Pdox games that I own and have modifications for. Oh, and it's free.![]()

Paint.NET
DDS plugin for Paint.NET
Unlimited Time Mod
This is a small tool that patches the eu3game.exe to enable you to play between 51 AD and 55000 AD instead of only 340 years.
Yo can find it and some information about it in this thread .
Falls es irgendwelche Erfahrungen gibt kann man sie gern hier reinschreiben, ich selbst schätze dass das "Historical Realism Project" Potenzial hat.
