ships like "Hood"

Beitrag von Bismarck »

What about an action like "praise a ship"?
You declare one ship as the flag ship and the symbol of the Navy, so you get a bonus if the ship will take part in a battle and the other countries will have fear if one of your "glory" ships are at the coast!
But if somebody will sink the ship, you'll get several penalties for a specific time and some dissent

I think you don't need to declare one ship as a flag ship, the biggest ship of every country should be a flag ship with the same modifications like Bismarck sais.
With new Tech more than just one ship is the flag ship.

But in the britain history you'll see that the Hood wasn't the best (ok, the biggest) ship, but it was the famoust and as the Hood sunk, Britain was totally depressed und wanted to hunt and sinnk the Bismarck.

With all due respect, Mr. Chancellor,

the Hood never was neither the biggest nor the best ship in the Royal Navy, and, as far as i know, she was never regarded as such. The british resolution to hunt down the Bismarck after her breakthrough into the atlantic was less a matter of "avenge the Hood" but a natural reaction to the immense thread that a german Battlegroup, escorted by a destroyer flotilla, would have imposed on the vital british "western approaches" Convoy routes.

Anyways, i like Your idea of having one or several unique ships as "national symbols" or "Pride of the Navy". A nice personal touch within dealing with all those large forces. But i would not agree, that a player should simply designate such a "symbol" by his own choice. Historically it was more common, that a ship earned a special "reputation" by destinguished outstanding service, success in Battle or having a famous and popular CO, like, p.e. the USS Constitution oder the HMS Victory.

So a reputation als a "legend of the seas" should, imho only be awarded by success in combat, not by choice of a player...

I've only read this and so my opinion can be false, but your addition to my idea is really good!

Because I don't understand why to use this primitive language named "English" I'll write about this theme in German, in order to be exactly understanded by everyone. If you want a translation, you can ask me ;)

But you should not forget, that the Royal Navy had an aim to sunk the Bismarck... This helped their morale und made them stronger i think...

Why we don´t add both ideas?

First Stauffenbergs as the more important variant, and Bismarcks idea in that way, that a player can choose the flaggship only one time in 10 years or something like that.
