Mit dem Verlust seiner Träger sehr früh im Spiel hat sich die Lage stark Richtung Sieg der Alliierten verschoben. Da hat er zu viel riskiert. Vorher hatten seine Trägerflugzeuge bei Angriffen auf meine Transport Konvois bereits die Masse der Torpedos verschossen und teile der Maschinen mussten gewartet oder repariert werden. Er hatte nicht mit der sehr schnellen Verlegung der amerikanischen Träger Richtung seinen gerechnet und der Rückweg war versperrt. Bei der Trägerschlacht selber hatte ich natürlich auch Glück, das nur die Enterprise durch Bomben beschädigt, aber noch voll einsetzbar war und so morgens und nachmittags mit voller Wucht angegriffen werden konnte. Am Vormittag waren ja bereits die japanischen Träger so stark beschädigt, das sie die Masse der Flugzeuge nicht mehr starten konnte.

Anschließend hatte ich vier Flugzeugträger, wobei immer drei im Einsatz vorne oder in Reserve in der Korallen See standen. Die wieder ausrüstung der Träger mit Flugzeugen hat allerdings bestimmt zwei Monate gedauert, da die Flugzeugersatzraten nicht hoch sind. Ich habe danach auch nicht mit "vollen Druck" gespielt, da es auch so noch die ein oder andere interressante Spielsituation gegeben hatte.

In der Zusammenfassung des Scenarios muß ich allerdings sagen, das auf beiden Seiten großer Treibstoffengpass sowie Supplymangel geherrscht haben. Auch die strategischen Möglichkeiten weitere Basen zu gründen und auszubauen war so nicht oder nur im sehr geringen Maße möglich. Das hat die Flexibilität des Spielverlaufes behindert.

Gelernt habe ich das Pilotenmanagement, um eigene Jägerpiloten in bestimmten Staffeln zu trainieren und dann an die Frontstaffeln zu versetzten. Zuletzt hatte ich sogar bereits einen australischen Piloten, den ich zu der Tracom hätte versetzen können.

Respekt gebührt auch meinem Gegner Zottelhase. Ich selber spiele zur Zeit das Scenario auf Seiten der Japaner gegen die KI. Es fehlen einfach genug Zeros, um alles zu Decken oder vernünftig Begleitschutz für die Bettys zu stellen.

[b]Wir haben die drei Träger Wasp, Enterprise und Hornet doch weiter vorstoßen lassen. Ein Luftangriff von Rabaul aus kann nicht durchstoßen. Zahlreiche feindliche Jäger wurden in den Luftkämpfen beschädigt und werden nicht alle den Weg nach Hause schaffen. Vor einiger Zeit hätten knapp 30 Zeros meiner Übermacht von Wildcats viel mehr Arbeit und Mühe gemacht. Den Japanern gehen die Elite Piloten aus.[/b]

[b]Der japanische Trägerverband ist in der Nacht weit nach Norden Richtung Truk ausgewichen. Trotzdem waren die feindlichen Flugzeuge noch in Schlagreichweite. Doch die Verluste des Vortages (incl. Beschädigungen) waren wohl zu groß, da nur 14 Flugzeuge im Anflug auf unsere Träger aufgeboten worden sind. Dieser Angriff wurde ohne eine geringste Gefahr abgeschlagen. Unsere Kreuzergruppe in Lunga sollte nachts wiederum mal nachschauen, was sich dort so rum treibt. Zur Überraschung wurden fünf große, voll mit Truppen beladene Frachter, gestellt und versenkt. Nach Ende der Aufgabe geht es zurück nach Guadalcanal. Das soll aber noch nicht alles gewesen sein...

Die feindliche Trägerflotte befindet sich ca. 200 Meilen nördlich von Guadalcanal. Diese sollte wohl den Truppentransport nach Shortlands Luftdeckung geben. Mit unseren Kreuzerüberfall hat der Japaner nicht gerechnet! In der Zwischenzeit ist die Saratoga bei unseren anderen Trägern eingetroffen, so das wir mit allen vier Flottenträgern auf den feindlichen Verband operieren werden! Wir bilden zwei Kampfgruppen. Da nur ein schwerer Kreuzer vorhanden ist, wird die Kreuzergruppe auf dem Rückweg nach Lunga kehrt machen und zu den Trägern aufschließen.

Die Lage in Buna. Unsere Truppen sind total abgekämpft. Wie sehen denn erst die Japaner aus? Die Erfahrung von einigen australischen Truppenteilen ist durch die Kämpfe von 35 auf 58 angestiegen. Ein amerikanisches Regiment kann sogar einen Erfahrungswert von 69 bieten. Zwei Artillerie Regimenter sind noch auf dem Weg. Sie müssten in einigen Tagen vor Ort sein und die Durchschlagskraft erheblich erhöhen.

In Port Moresby sind das Beladen der Transporter mit vor Ort nicht mehr benötigten Truppenteilen sowie Pioniere fast abgeschlossen. Diese werden zurück nach Townsville gebracht und dort für neue Ziele bereit gehalten.

Nachdem ein Nachschubkonvoi von Noumea aus 12.000 Supply nach Townsville gebracht hat, konnten wir nun die zweite Staffel Jäger auf die Lightnings ausrüsten. Mit Zusatztanks ausgerüstet können sie von Port Moresby aus Rabaul erreichen. Wenn die Staffel einsatzbereit ist und weiterer Nachschub dort bereit gestellt ist, werden wir die ersten Tag Angriffe auf Rabaul starten.

[b]Trotz 42 Minuten Vorwarnzeit sowie ohne Begleitschutz konnten nur 3 Jäger an die feindlichen Torpedobomber herangeführt werden. Eine Betty konnte abgeschossen werden sowie andere Beschädigt werden. 9 Bettys kamen zum Torpedoabwurf und konnten einen Treffer auf der Canberra erzielen. Erste Schadensmeldungen sprechen von knapp über 10 % Schaden sowie 30 % Wassereinbruch (ca. aus dem Kopf). Die Höchstgeschwindigkeit ist auf 18 Knoten gefallen. Der Kreuzer muß ins Dock nach Sydney. [/b]

In einem heftigen Luftgefecht konnten sich unsere Piloten der Warhawk Staffeln toll auszeichnen. Die Zeros konnten unserer Übermacht nichts entgegen setzten und verloren viele Maschinen durch Abschuß sowie durch Beschädigungen. Trotzdem konnten zwei Bettys durchstoßen, aber keinen gezielten Torpedoabwurf mehr bewerkstelligen.[/b]
