Wir sind erleichtert, dass Unsere Entscheidung nicht zur Bildung eines Lynchmobs geführt hat

Der Zuspruch tut gut und gerade Regenten, wie der edle Taurus und der edle Cerberus können nachvollziehen, mit was für einem Monster von Spiel Wir es hier zu tun haben und wieviel Zeit es frisst . Wir fühlen Uns dem einfach nicht mehr gewachsen und würden Niemandem einen Gefallen damit tun, hier mit halber Kraft und ohne mit dem Herzen dabei zu sein, das Spiel fortzusetzen. Auch der edle Ammann kennt die Probleme, dass der Tag leider nur 24 Stunden hat...

Mit Bedauern aber voller Verständnis müssen wir euren Rückzug von der aktiven Forumsarbeit hinnehmen, eure thematisch vielfältigen und inhaltlich hervorragenden Berichte werden uns und natürlich allen anderen Lesern auch sehr fehlen.
Da ihr ja nicht nur diesen AAR samt Spiel, sondern auch fast alle anderen Projekte beendet, können wir uns nur ansatzweise vorstellen, welchen zeitlichen Belastungen ihr ausgesetzt seid. Aber nun versteht ihr sicherlich besser, warum auch wir uns nicht mehr einem solchen Monsterspiel aussetzen wollten - man wird wirklich langsam alt und hat noch andere Prioritäten im Leben.

Werter Pickett.....wir können euch voll und ganz verstehen......bei uns ist es ebenso....über die Jahre wurden die Aufgaben und Verantwortung die man auf den Baustellen hat immer größer.....dann kommt man nach Hause und versorgt da noch seine Tiere und ist am Ende oft einfach platt ......deswegen spielen wir zum Großteil nur noch am Wochende.
Auch wir errinnern uns an euch als ehrenwerten Gegner und Mitstreiter.Also wenn es euch irgendwann mal bei TOAW jucken sollte wisst ihr bescheid.....

Dann möchte ich die Chance ergreifen, gleich der erste hier zu sein, der seinen Respekt und Dank ausdrückt. Auch wenn wir nur über knapp 2 Spielmonate und ein knappes halbes Jahr in RL die Klingen gekreuzt haben, fand ich diese Auseinandersetzung sehr fordernd und anspruchsvoll, mithin so, wie man sich ein solches Spiel wünscht. Wir haben in einer Phase gespielt, in der die Möglichkeiten der Alliierten noch ziemlich begrenzt sind - und selbst das dürfte ein Euphemismus sein. Trotzdem war Euere Defensive systematisch und stabil aufgebaut und hat nur wenig Möglichkeiten gelassen, Euch mal mit runtergelassener Hose zu erwischen. Da, wo es mir dann doch ab und an vielleicht mal ansatzweise gelungen ist, hatte es (aus japanischer Sicht) zudem dann auch keine schwerwiegend nachteiligen Folgen für Euch. Das heißt operativ gab es für mich zwar den einen oder anderen Erfolg, strategisch seid Ihr aus meiner Sicht aber nie ernsthaft in Bedrängnis gekommen - nur China könnte evtl eine Ausnahme sein, aber hier kann der Alliierte ja notfalls auch einen Totalverlust verkraften...

Eure Entscheidung bedauere ich, kann Sie aber, wie schon geschrieben, nachvollziehen und verstehen. Auch ich merke, dass meine Kapazitäten, viel Energie nach Feierabend in ein solches Monster zu stecken, langsam begrenzter werden ... Auf die Fortsetzung der glühenden Rohre bin ich schon gespannt

Werte Regenten,
Werte Leserschaft,

schweren Herzens müssen Wir vermelden, dass dieser AAR und auch das dazugehörige PBEM hier enden werden. Diese Entscheidung ist Uns nicht leicht gefallen, doch die allgemeinen Umstände, sowohl beruflich, als auch privat, lassen Uns diese Entscheidung als den einzig richtigen Weg erscheinen. Kommt es nur Uns so vor, als ob "früher" einfach mehr freie Zeit vorhanden war? Oder war man "früher" belastbarer, da jünger? In der Vergangenheit haben Wir viele Spielzüge spät abends oder sogar nachts vorbereitet und auch den AAR gepflegt. Wenn Wir heute von der Arbeit nach Hause kommen, fühlen Wir uns oft ausgebrannt, erschöpft. Das mag auch mit zusätzlichen beruflichen Verantwortlichkeiten zusammenhängen, aber Wir vermuten schlicht und einfach auch Unser Alter als möglichen Grund. Vielleich sind Wir einfach nicht mehr so belastbar wie früher.

Wir zitieren mal Malcolm McDowell aus Star Trek VII.

"Die Zeit ist das Feuer, in dem wir verbrennen"

Wir glauben, dass für Uns die Zeit gekommen ist, mit dem Thema PBEM und AAR abzuschließen. Es waren schöne Zeiten mit spannenden Partien gegen Gegner wie den werten Regenten Kensai, Lewis Armistead, Otto Weddingen, Ammann, Divico, Longstreet und schließlich dem edlen Cerberus. Die Gemeinschaftspartie TOAW mit Ammann, Cfant und dem Oberst gegen die KI wird Uns immer in angenehmer Erinnerung bleiben . Auch die Teilnahme als Protagonist in AAR´s anderer Regenten, wie z. B. dem des edlen der Dessauer (Bombing the Reich) waren eine schöne Erfahrung.

Wir werden als Leser dem Forum natürlich treu bleiben und hier und da in den AAR´s der Regenten Unsere unqualifizierten Kommentare anbringen. Dafür erbitten Wir schon jetzt die Nachsicht der Regenten

Es ist kein Abschied...eher die Realisierung des unvermeidlichen...

Es gibt in Unserer Entscheidung eine einzige Ausnahme: Der AAR "Bis die Rohre glühen!" liegt Uns sehr am Herzen und soll zukünftig mit mäßigem und unregelmäßigem Tempo einen würdigen Abschluss finden.

Der Feind versenkte 3 Frachter mit zusammen 14.000 BRT. Schlachtschiffe beschossen anschließend die Hafenanlagen von Broome und trafen mehrere Frachter. Ein weiterer schwerer Schlag für die Handelsflotte, von der die Versorgung Australiens abhängt.

Im Raum der Aleuten konnte der Feind die Insel Attu sichern. Die eigenen Kräfte im Nordpazifik beschränken sich darauf, den Ausbau der Insel Adak durch den Feind zu verhindern und für das Frühjahr eine erneute Landungsoperation vorzubereiten.

Kurz nach Mitternacht traf bei der Insel Vaitupu ein Konvoi mit Nachschub und weiteren Truppen ein. Hierbei lief der sichernde Zerstörer "USS Perkins" auf eine Mine, die den Kiel aufriss. Die Wassereinbrüche waren nicht kontrollierbar und der Zerstörer musste aufgegeben werden. Er sank nur wenige Minuten nach dem Minentreffer.

Buna wurde auch heute von schweren B17-Bombern angegriffen. Die Trefferausbeute war zufriedenstellend. Die Staffeln werden in den nächsten 2 bis 3 Tagen am Boden bleiben, um notwendige Wartungsarbeiten durchzuführen und um den Besatzungen eine Pause zu gönnen.

Südostasien
Für die Versorgung von Nord-Australien ist eine neue Lage eingetreten. Bisher waren hier vor allem feindliche U-Boote aktiv und konnten einzelne Erfolge erzielen. Heute jedoch wurde ein Konvoi kurz vo der Hafenstadt Broome von feindlichen Marinebombern angegriffen, die mutmaßlich von Stützpunkten auf Timor gestartet waren. Die Verluste waren verheerend! Der Konvoi verlor 2 Frachter und 1 Tanker (bisher bestätigt) mit insgesamt fast 18.000 BRT. Der Konvoi Führer befahl daraufhin die Auflösung des Verbandes. Jeder Frachter sollte einzeln versuchen, Broome zu erreichen.

Es war damit gerechnet worden, dass der Feind mittelfristig die Versorgungsrouten nach Nord-Australien angreifen würde. Das australische Oberkommando erarbeitet in Zusammenarbeit mit der USAAF seit einiger Zeit einen Plan zum Ausbau von Luftwaffenbasen in dieser Region. Mit der Umsetzung dieser Planung wurde erst vor wenigen Tagen begonnen und erste Basen werden in wenigen Tagen einsatzbereit sein. Dann wird es möglich sein, den Konvois in der Endphase ihres Anmarsches Luftdeckung zu geben.

In der Nacht verschlechterte sich das Wetter im Raum der Aleuten zunehmend und es wurde mehr und mehr klar, das diese Landungsoperation im Winter mit schlecht vorbereiteten Truppen mehr als ein Vabanque Spiel war. In schwerer See konnten die Transporter kaum Ausrüstung oder Truppen entladen und ein Zerstörer kollidierte mit einem Truppentransporter. Erst 20 Prozent der Truppen waren an Land und es würde noch mindestens 4 bis 5 weitere Tage dauern, bis beide Verbände an Land und einsatzbereit waren. Um 02.40 Uhr A.M. wurde gemeldet, das bei den westlichen Aleuten Feindschiffe gesichtet wurden. Über die Zusammensetzung des Feindverbandes wurde nichts bekannt. Nach kurzer Beratung wurde beschlossen, das Landungsunternehmen abzubrechen und die bereits an Land befindlichen Truppen wieder einzuschiffen. Man wollte kein Risiko eingehen. Unter dem Schutz der Schlachtschiffe, die Adak Island mit schweren Granaten belegten, wurden die Truppen vom Strand evakuiert. Bei Morgengrauen nahmen beide Verbände Kurs auf Dutch Harbor. Operation "Tango Two" ist gescheitert...vorerst.

Südostasien
Die chinesischen Positionen werden täglich von der japanischen Luftwaffe massiv bombardiert und die chinesische Armee erleidet hohe Verluste. Besonders der Großraum Changsa liegt im Fokus des Feindes. Hier ist seit einiger Zeit zu beobachten, dass die japanischen Bomberpulks ohne Jagdschutz angreifen, da sie sich sehr sicher fühlen. Die American Volunteer Group entschloss sich daher, wieder einmal einen Nadelstich zu setzen, der sich aber zu einer großen Fleischwunde auswuchs. Am Vortage verlegte eine Gruppe der AVG auf Flugfelder nordwestlich von Changsa. Als am nächsten Nachmittag gemeldet wurde, dass sich über 80 japanische Bomber im Anflug auf Siangtan (westlich Changsa) befanden, stiegen die P40 der AVG auf. Aus der Überhöhung überraschen sie den Feind und konnten fast 30 Bomber abschießen. Einer der größten Erfolge der alliierten Luftwaffe seit Kriegsbeginn!

Eine amphibische Landungsoperation im Nordpazifik! ohne seriöse Vorbereitung und ohne vernünftige Transport-/Landungsfahrzeuge; sowas kann man ja wohl nur tollkühn nennen. Mit ein bisschen Pech kann das ganz schnell in einer ausgewachsenen Tragödie enden.
Vielleicht kann euer Gegner aber auch nicht so schnell reagieren, das es wenigstens reicht, alles und jeden von den Schiffen zu bekommen, bevor es brenzlig wird.

Am späten Nachmittag eröffneten die Schlachtschiffe und Kreuzer des Unterstützungsgeschwaders das Feuer auf die erkannten feindlichen Positionen auf Adak Island, während sich weiter auf See die Truppentransporter und Sicherungsschiffe formierten, um die Ausladung der Truppen und der Ausrüstung vorzubereiten.

Allen Beteiligten war klar, das die Landungsoperation ohne ausreichende Vorbereitung und ohne geeignetes Landungsgerät mehr als problematisch sein würde. Viele Einheiten verloren während der Annährung an den Strand Teile ihrer Ausrüstung. Soldaten gingen über Bord und mussten von nachfolgenden Landungsbooten aus dem kalten Wasser geborgen werden. Zum Glück gab es kein Abwehrfeuer des Feindes, was die Verlustzahlen wohl signifikant erhöht hätte. Am Abend konnte nach Dutch Harbor gemeldet werden, das der Brückenkopf gesichert war. Um die Ordnung in den Verbänden wieder herzustellen und die beschädigte Ausrüstung zu reparieren, werden jedoch einige Tage vergehen. Die Schlachtschiffe werden in der Nacht noch einmal die Feindstellungen beschießen und dann nach Dutch Harbor zurückkehren. In wenigen Tagen wird ein Kreuzergeschwader als Verstärkung in dieser Region eintreffen.

Viel hängt jetzt von der Reaktion des Gegners ab. 2 kanadische Hilfskreuzer kreuzen südwestlich von Adak Island, um eine Annäherung feindlicher Schiffe frühzeitig erkennen zu können. Mehrere U-Boote sind im Anmarsch und werden diese Vorpostenkette in den Tagen verstärken. Das britische Oberkomando bereitet den Widerstand gegen das japanische Vordringen in Burma vor. Burma Command soll eine Linie verteidigen, die vom Golf von Bengalen, südlich von Akyab, über das Ölzentrum Magwe bis zum Salween River reicht. Das III. und IV. indische Korps sollen mittelfristig Burma Command unterstellt werden. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt befinden sich 1 britische Division, 1 burmesische Division, 2 indische Divisionen und 2 australische Divisionen in Zuführung bzw. befinden sich bereits im Operationsgebiet. Wir haben zwar keinen Schimmer, wieviel Minenräumer Japan besitzt und ob sie bedenkenlos nachlegen können, aber immerhin hat dieser "Opfergang" (falls alles Totalverluste sein sollten) auch 103 Minen beseitigt.

Mag sein, das hier das Feld für Beschiessung von See aus vorbereitet werden soll. Immer noch die effektivste Art eure Festung schneller sturmreif zu bekommen. Oder, im günstigsten Fall, nach der Einnahme sofort den Hafen nutzen zu können.

Eine Beschießung von Bataan von See her wäre mal etwas neues. Zur Zeit scheint es Unser Gegner auf Luzon nicht sehr eilig zu haben. Mir merken aber zunehmend, dass der Februar trotz Unserer erfolgreichen Nadelstiche ein böser...böser Monat werden könnte...

Auch heute wurden aus Java, Sumatra, Malaysia und China massive feindliche Bombenangriffe gemeldet.

Japanische Minenräumer versuchten vor Bataan Minen zu räumen, um die Zufahrt zum Hafen von Manila zu öffnen. Sie wurden von den Küstenbatterien der Festung Corregidor unter Feuer genommen. Alle Feindschiffe wurden mehrfach schwer getroffen und dürften sinken.
